C.T.I. (ticker: 2230) held a board meeting yesterday (the 10th) and approved a procurement case for storage-linked photovoltaic system equipment in Thailand. The case marks a significant step for the company’s new-energy group into the Southeast Asian market and is expected to add to operating momentum from the fourth quarter of this year, in step with the batched shipment, acceptance and payment of the equipment.

C.T.I. has been developing its new-energy business actively in recent years, treating energy storage, photovoltaics and energy-management systems as its medium- to long-term growth direction alongside its existing trading and other operations. The company says the new-energy group has secured four key patents to date, covering a hybrid power-supply system and a method for extending the supply time of secondary batteries, a method for intermittent inverter discharge within a storage device, a secondary-battery power-management method, and an intelligent power-supply method that incorporates weather-forecast data — a technical basis for the overseas storage sites to follow.

The Thailand case approved at this board meeting is aligned mainly with local demand for solar and storage equipment, with C.T.I. responsible for supplying the storage-linked photovoltaic system equipment. The company notes that Thailand has been pushing renewable energy and community-level energy autonomy hard in recent years, and that demand for solar paired with storage is rising. The cooperation demonstrates C.T.I.’s ability to take on new-energy equipment integration and international supply-chain work, and echoes the direction of Taiwanese companies deepening their presence in New Southbound markets.

C.T.I. says it has long been building out overseas markets, and that Southeast Asia is one of the new-energy group’s important bases. As the Thailand case enters the execution stage, the new-energy business is no longer confined to R&D and patent work but is moving step by step into orders, shipments and revenue contribution. The company will continue to push the integration of storage equipment, photovoltaic systems and energy-management solutions, and to pursue further overseas site opportunities.

Institutional observers note that C.T.I.’s new-energy business has largely been at the groundwork stage, with the market watching for whether it can turn into real revenue. With the Thailand storage case now approved by the board, smooth progress on shipment and payment would help raise the new-energy group’s weight in the company’s overall revenue structure and give a clearer shape to C.T.I.’s "third leg".

C.T.I. stresses that execution will follow the contract schedule in batches, and that revenue will be recognised in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and regulations. The company will also keep strengthening its patented technology, supply-chain integration and overseas project execution, to make the new-energy business an important engine of future operating growth.
